- Magazines & catalogs
- Junk mail and envelopes
- Office and school papers
- Brown paper bags
- Aluminum cans (rinsed)
- Tin & steel cans (rinsed)
- Glass jars and bottles (all colors)
- Plastic milk jugs
- Plastic bottles (detergent bottles too)
- Plastic Containers (#1 – #2)
- Phone books

2. WHAT TIME SHOULD I HAVE MY GARBAGE OUT?
7 a.m. on the day of your scheduled collection.
3. WHAT ARE YOUR OFFICE HOURS?
Office hours are Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
4. CAN I PUT YARD WASTE INTO MY TRASH CONTAINER?
No – North Carolina law prohibits yard waste from being mixed with household trash. If yard waste is placed into your trash container, it will not be emptied until the yard waste is removed. This will result in you having trash at your home for at least an additional week until the cart is free of yard waste.
5. WHERE SHOULD I SET MY GARBAGE & RECYCLING CONTAINERS?
The garbage and recycling needs to be set out by the street and not obstructed by vehicles or other objects.
6. WHAT DO I DO WITH PAINT & CHEMICALS?
Stallings Trash Collection can dispose of any paint cans that are either empty or in which the paint is completely hardened. Otherwise, paint and hazardous waste need to be taken to your local Hazardous Waste site.
7. DO YOU RECYCLE ELECTRONICS?
Due to a state law that went into effect July 2011, landfills can no longer accept electronics. The Foxhole Landfill located at 17131 Lancaster Highway, Charlotte, NC (located at Highway 521 right at the NC/SC State Line) will accept and recycle electronic items. Additionally, USB Recycling (3307A Highway 74 East) will recycle electronics. USB offers free drop off or local pickup for a fee. Call 704-207-1220 for more information.
8. HOW OFTEN IS RECYCLING PICKED UP?
Residential recycling is picked up once every other week (biweekly) on the same day as trash. For a schedule of our service days for your neighborhood, view or subscribe to our schedule.
9. HOW IS YARD WASTE COLLECTED?
Yard waste is collected once every other week (biweekly). There is no charge for this service and the amount is limited to 15 bags and/or bundles. YARD WASTE WILL NOT BE COLLECTED FROM YOUR BLUE RECYCLING CART. If you have branches in small piles bundled for collection they count as 1 bag for collection per pile. Anything outside of a CLEAR PLASTIC BAG (dark bags where we cannot see what is inside will NOT be collected) will be collected ONLY IF it is bundled and we can grab and throw it into our truck. Each bundle equates with one bag. Bundles must weight less than 50 pounds and be manageable. WE WILL NOT COLLECT TREES. We will collect branches and piles of wood (less than 4” in diameter and 4’ in lenghth) properly bundled for collection.
10. HOW SHOULD I PREPARE MY YARD WASTE?
Yard waste consists of grass, leaves, trim clippings and small branches (less than 4″ in diameter and less than 4′ in length). THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE TREES CUT DOWN FROM YOUR PROPERTY (please call a tree service for this disposal). You may place the items into a clear plastic bag or into a GBUSA approved container for disposal (these containers must have lift bars for us to lift them).
Your yard waste collection is limited to 4 cubic yards once every two weeks. This equates to 15 bags of yard waste.
Branches must be bundled for collection – this prevents our drivers from being attacked by ants and other bugs we often find in yard waste piles that have been on the ground for days.
Please do not use plastic bags – Please use biodegradable or compostable bags for yard waste. Plastic bags cannot be collected by the yard waste truck and they will be left at your residence.
